The link below takes you to a heartfelt appeal from a father of an adult killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School. As a Dad, it is easy for me to empathize with Mr. Rousseau; how incredibly tragic to lose a child to a sick person who chose a powerful weapon to take so many precious lives.
Many status-quo gun owners see these kinds of appeals as emotional manipulation techniques by the anti-gun or gun-control lobbies. This man’s pain is palpable and, while we can’t stop this kind of thing from happening again to someone else’s child, we need to do all we can to reduce the chances.
The road to better gun possession and safety laws does not have to be paved with polar-opposite, partisan arguments. Can we find common ground and come up with reasonable approaches to reduce gun violence?
